{"id":141,"date":"2007-03-29T08:28:40","date_gmt":"2007-03-29T06:28:40","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.henriska.com\/blog\/?p=141"},"modified":"2007-03-29T08:28:47","modified_gmt":"2007-03-29T06:28:47","slug":"geekdinner-28-march","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/www.henriska.com\/blog\/2007\/03\/geekdinner-28-march\/","title":{"rendered":"Geekdinner, 28 March"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Yesterday evening (28 March) I attended the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.geekdinner.org.za\/2007\/03\/21\/geekdinner-announcement-28-march\/\">Geekdinner<\/a> that was held at Barbarellas in Constantia Village and my overall opinion is that is was a great success and everybody had a great time.<\/p>\n<p>It was good to meet some virtual acquaintances like <a href=\"http:\/\/www.tania.co.za\/collective\/blog.nsf\">Tania<\/a> and <a href=\"http:\/\/nxsy.org\/\">Neil<\/a> face to face and also to catch up with old friends like <a href=\"http:\/\/blog.greenman.co.za\/\">Ian<\/a> and <a href=\"http:\/\/www.swimgeek.com\/blog\/\">Joe<\/a>.&nbsp; Have also met a lot of other people but names is not one of my strong points.<\/p>\n<p>The talks was good and interesting .. not too long and in all likelyhood the right kind of talks for the people that attended.&nbsp; I particurly liked that <a href=\"http:\/\/www.ubuntu-za.org\/\">Ubuntu<\/a> was promoted and people were asked to get involved. <a href=\"http:\/\/nxsy.org\/\">Neil&#8217;s<\/a> talk on <a href=\"http:\/\/openid.net\/\">OpenID<\/a> gave me the idea to implement <a href=\"http:\/\/openid.net\/\">OpenID<\/a> on this blog.<\/p>\n<p>There is one thing that I find strange &#8212; were is all the geek girls?&nbsp; Out of a group of about 50 I only counted 5.&nbsp; BTW, what does one call a female geek?<\/p>\n<p>Thanks again <a href=\"http:\/\/www.swimgeek.com\/blog\/\">Joe<\/a> for arranging .. was a job well done.<\/p>\n<p>Technorati Tags: <a class=\"performancingtags\" href=\"http:\/\/technorati.com\/tag\/geekdinner\" rel=\"tag\">geekdinner<\/a>, <a class=\"performancingtags\" href=\"http:\/\/technorati.com\/tag\/geek\" rel=\"tag\">geek<\/a>, <a class=\"performancingtags\" href=\"http:\/\/technorati.com\/tag\/ubuntu\" rel=\"tag\">ubuntu<\/a>, <a class=\"performancingtags\" href=\"http:\/\/technorati.com\/tag\/openid\" rel=\"tag\">openid<\/a>, <a class=\"performancingtags\" href=\"http:\/\/technorati.com\/tag\/friends\" rel=\"tag\">friends<\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Yesterday evening (28 March) I attended the Geekdinner that was held at Barbarellas in Constantia Village and my overall opinion is that is was a great success and everybody had a great time.
