{"id":362,"date":"2008-12-11T18:28:09","date_gmt":"2008-12-11T16:28:09","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.henriska.com\/blog\/?p=362"},"modified":"2008-12-11T18:35:54","modified_gmt":"2008-12-11T16:35:54","slug":"twitter-problems","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/www.henriska.com\/blog\/2008\/12\/twitter-problems\/","title":{"rendered":"Twitter problems."},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Today was my day with <a href=\"http:\/\/twitter.com\/mariusb\/\">Twitter<\/a> problems.<\/p>\n<p>Some background &#8211; I am running Ubuntu on all my machines and have used <a href=\"http:\/\/www.twhirl.org\/\">Twirl<\/a> as a Twitter client.&nbsp; Now being on Linux also means that the version of<a href=\"http:\/\/www.adobe.com\/products\/air\/\"> Adobe Air<\/a> that I run is very beta.&nbsp; So this morning when I started Twirl, it just gave me an empty screen.&nbsp; Being busy all day, I never had any time to really look at it.&nbsp; When I got home, I tried Twirl again and it say that a new version is available and would I like to upgrade.&nbsp; Like a good boy I upgraded and then the surprise.&nbsp; Sorry but Twirl needs a newer version of Air which is not available on Linux.&nbsp; So I am really snookered.<\/p>\n<p>Then I decided to have a look at what native Linux Twitter clients is available and found <a href=\"https:\/\/launchpad.net\/gwibber\">gWibber<\/a> (where does this name come from).&nbsp; Installed it and when I run it I am greeted with this:<br \/><code>mariusb@mariusb-ubuntu:~$ gwibber<br \/>\/home\/mariusb\/<wbr \/>.gtkrc-<wbr \/>2.0:10: Invalid symbolic color 'selected_bg_color'<br \/>\/home\/mariusb\/<wbr \/>.gtkrc-<wbr \/>2.0:10: error: invalid identifier `selected_<wbr \/>bg_color'<wbr \/>, expected valid identifier<br \/>error: duplicate REP tables used<br \/>Failure loading aff file \/usr\/share\/<wbr \/>myspell\/<wbr \/>dicts\/en_<wbr \/>ZA.aff<br \/>console message: undefined @1: ReferenceError: Can't find variable: addMessages<br \/>console message: undefined @22: ReferenceError: Can't find variable: setGtkConfig<br \/>console message: undefined @1: ReferenceError: Can't find variable: setAccountConfig<br \/>console message: undefined @1: ReferenceError: Can't find variable: addMessages<br \/>console message: undefined @22: ReferenceError: Can't find variable: setGtkConfig<br \/>console message: undefined @1: ReferenceError: Can't find variable: setAccountConfig<br \/>Segmentation fault<br \/>mariusb@<wbr \/>mariusb-<wbr \/>ubuntu:<wbr \/>~$<\/code><\/p>\n<p>So the only way to follow Twitter at the moment is via the web client.
