I am traveling overseas in a couple of weeks time – for work to IBM Denmark but will hopefully have some spare time for some sightseeing. Will be my first trip to Denmark. I probably need to invest in a digital camera before that and looking for suggestions. I am not a photographic professional like Andy so do not need anything fancy and complex.
Mainly looking for something that can take decent pictures, have good zoom capabilities and is fairly small with a fair size memory card.
While I am at it, I will also appreciate advice on things to see and do when in Denmark — I am mainly going to Copenhagen. And what type of clothes to take — probably will go there the first or second week of April — what is the weather like then?
Any advice will be appreciated.

I wrote about the decision making process in buying a compact about a year ago.
I probably wouldn’t recommend a Pentax at this point – I lust after a Canon Ixus of some kind, and I also know that Fuji are good (although they use the weird xD cards, which I disapprove of), and I’d probably bet on Nikon too. The best advice is really to make sure you try them hands-on before you buy.
And thanks for the kind words, but I’m hardly a professional
Copenhague, a very nice city, in April, the weather might be milder than right now.
It is a very safe city, lots of very nice places to visit – everything is quite concentrated. Everyone speaks English there.
I would clearly advise you to book your hotel via the Internet, it will be cheaper.
It is a pretty expensive place (like London), so be ready to spend. You can easily go to Sweden (by train) – Malmö (nice city as well – different mentality). Different currency again (no Euro – in Dk, no Euro neither), which is pretty annoying.
there was this weird stuff though in Copenhague, some cults on the street stopping you for weird interviews – this city is actually the center of a sadly famous one… I got actually surprised when I realized this… so be cautious.
HEt jy al kamera gekry – en kan dit maer fotos neem? En sal my my ook afneem?
